What do you do for fun?

Everything is fun with a house full of boys!

Why are you passionate about serving with students?

WAY back in the day when I was a student in a small town in Oklahoma, our church’s youth group consisted of three inconsistent students and a revolving list of adults who kinda tried to be youth group leaders. There wasn’t anyone who really stuck around to build relationships or model a “relationship with the Lord”. I accepted Christ at 14 yrs old, but kinda saw that as my ticket to Heaven. I didn’t understand that there was a deeper, daily relationship available until much later in life. I definitely don’t want any student to feel “Saved”, but still feel lonely and lost.

When Michael and I had kids, I served in the church nursery, preschool, children’s, etc. and finally found my hearts passion in serving in our youth group. I deeply want students to know how much God loves them and wants a true relationship with them. God is not a “one-stop-shop” where he hands over a salvation ticket and then moves on. I want them to see how deeply he loves them and what a personal relationship with our Father looks like – as with any relationship, we have responsibilities on our end, too (time in prayer, in The Word, fellowship with believers, etc). That was not something I understood until well into my 20’s. I wish I’d discovered it much earlier. So, my passion is to lead students to a full on, personal RELATIONSHIP with Christ.

What would you like to say to the parents?

Hey Teammate, I just want you to know, I love your daughter already! I have most likely already met her, but if not yet, I know she is amazing! I am so thankful to have the opportunity to spend time with her and grow in our relationships with the Lord and each other. Senior year is an exciting and sometimes scary time for all of us, but knowing God is with us each step of the way, with each decision that must be made, is a true comfort. Thank you for sharing her with us during this very important year! Please reach out anytime. As a Mom of 22, 18 and 13 year olds, I know the importance of teaming up with fellow believers to build our kids up as they prepare for the future. I am thankful to be your teammate.
Love,
Audrey
