Tell us about your family.
My husband and I moved from farm-town Illinois to Texas ten years ago. Since then, we’ve gained three little boys and a vizsla puppy! Before having kids, I practiced pediatric and psychiatric nursing as an RN. Now, I’m a freelance writer and illustrator.
What do you do for fun?
I love to draw (particularly cartooning!) as well as write. I spend a lot of my time baking and creating fun / weird desserts people request. I’m an ultimate frisbee fan and have a love-hate relationship with running.
Why are you passionate about serving with students?
I started leading a small group when I was in high school and knew right away it was a fit for me. I think it’s important to not just show up and teach Sunday School, but build and trust relationships with girls in my group so when broken hearts, friend betrayals and acne hit hard – they have someone who can hopefully offer a listening ear, a payer and a chocolate bar.
What would you like to say to the parents?
My husband and I have always hoped to have other influential adults in our boys’ lives to be there for them when we can’t or they need another voice to listen to. That’s my desire for any group I lead: to parter with you as parents to provide as much care and support as we can for the complicated world your kids are maneuvering and point them to Jesus along the way.
