But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, but with gentleness and respect.
In school, one of the most nerve-wracking moments in class is when the teacher announces a pop quiz. Many people struggle with these quizzes because they are difficult to prepare for. It is simply a moment of truth—have you been listening and retaining the information, or have you let it go in one ear and out the other? Those who do well on these quizzes consistently have not done anything revolutionary, they simply paid attention and retained the information.
We all have different skills and gifts given by God, but even in our differences, we can all listen to God and ask Him to help us grow in our faith. Each of us is called to be diligent in pursuing growth, not only for our own benefit but also the benefit of others. Thankfully, this is not a task we have to take on alone or even be intimidated by. Paul said in Philippians 1:3-6, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now. For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.” He encouraged the church in Philippi that the Lord was with them as they joined Him in the work of spreading the gospel and God would be faithful to equip them as they followed Him. We do not have a God who pulls out a pop quiz to guilt or embarrass us but instead invites us to walk with Him so we will always be ready to share the joy of Christ with others.

- Where is your life marked by walking with God? What needs to change?
- Pray and thank God for the opportunity to walk with Him and join Him in the work of sharing the gospel.
