Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction.

Who do you go to with questions about faith or the Scriptures? These types of people are formative to our walk with Christ as they impart wisdom and insight. And many of these conversations are impromptu. These people have not prepared for our specific questions but are drawing from a lifetime of study and walking with God.

Are you prepared to pour into someone that way? You may not even be aware of the people who are listening to your advice and watching your life right now. This may not be a season where you are formally discipling another person, but you can share your faith with anyone you come in contact with. Colossians 3:16 gives us some insight into how this is possible, it says, “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” We can pour into others when the Word of Christ has dwelt within us and been made real to us. We do not have to formally prepare; it is our daily walk with God through the Word and prayer that equips us to share this hope with others.

  • Would you say the Word of God richly dwells in you? How can you grow in your time with Him?
  • How often do you share your faith? Who are some people you can share more with?
  • Pray for the people you want to share with about Jesus.
