That I may make it clear in the way that I ought to proclaim it.
Many times, we need to hear something multiple times before we really understand it. We may hear the same insight from different people in different ways until one day the truth connects in our minds and our lives.
In our walk with Christ there is wisdom to being prayerful, not just about opportunities to share our faith but the way we share it with others. It is wise to pray for clarity in our words and testimony that it would speak more to who Christ is than anything of ourselves. Many have been hurt by someone who said something that was true but in a way that was more wounding or confusing than helpful. As we live as ambassadors for and representatives of the truth of the gospel, we can look to Christ in His Word and press into the Holy Spirit through prayer to ask for guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Many times, we use this verse in personal application as we look for direction in difficult times, but it also applies to the way we share with others. Our heavenly Father knows our hearts and the hearts of those we want to share with. We can trust His direction and ask for His guidance when looking for the words to say or the way to share with others.
- What is one relationship you need to trust God with? Why has it been difficult to ask for His direction as you interact with that person?
- When was a time you asked for God’s direction as you sought to share your faith?
- Pray for a person who does not know Christ and for your interactions and clarity as you seek to share the hope of Christ with them.
