One who commits adultery with a woman is lacking sense; He who would destroy himself commits it.
One of the many warnings a parent gives a toddler is, “You’re going to hurt yourself!” Many things that sound fun or interesting to a child can be dangerous and hurt them in the process. They are naïve to the consequences that come from their actions and need their parents to guide those desires with healthy boundaries. When we look at the boundaries God has set for marriage and sex, it is easy to get the image in our mind of a harsh God who is distant and out of touch with our desires, but the opposite is true. Because God is our Creator, who is good and knows His perfect intention, He knows how harmful sexual immorality can be.
First Corinthians 6:18-20 says, “Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought for a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” Sexual immorality is serious to God because He has made the body to be a temple of His Holy Spirit, not a temple of self-indulgence. You are valuable and important to God. Though our fleshly desires are strong and temptations are compelling, they will only hurt us in the end. Instead of following our desires, which will only lead to destruction, we can glorify God with this body He has given us.

- What does it look like to flee sexual immorality daily?
- Pray and repent for any sexual sin in your life, ask God to help you glorify Him with your body.
