“And later the slave said, ‘Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’”

Those that attended the master’s banquet were invited, got to enjoy the banquet, and were treated as valued guests. The other person that got to experience the blessing of the master’s work was the master’s servant. As the messenger, he delivered the invitations and experienced the rejection firsthand but also witnessed the abundance of the master who prepared a gathering with room to spare. Our God has abundantly provided, given, and prepared a place in His kingdom. We love this to be true as receivers of His abundance, but we often struggle to live generously as His messengers. We often get distracted by life and forget our place as ambassadors and missionaries of the gospel.

God has given us the privilege to live as more than just recipients of His grace but also as vessels through which His invitation of grace is given. This work is not easy but has been prepared for us, and we are equipped by God Himself. Jesus said in Matthew 28:18-20, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Jesus sends you out, equipped to share His invitation, and there is room for anyone who will believe to enter His kingdom. Will you be obedient in taking the message?

  • How do you seek to live as a messenger of the gospel?
  • Where is it hard to live as God’s messenger? What makes it difficult to share His invitation in those spaces?
  • Pray and ask God to show you how to live as His messenger and to give you boldness to do so.
