“By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” –  1 John 4:9-10

The love of God is the foundation of our faith. It is not based on our ability to love Him, but on His incredible love for us. God demonstrated His love by sending His Son, Jesus, to be the propitiation for our sins. This means that Jesus took on the punishment we deserved, satisfying God’s wrath and reconciling us to Him. Understanding this profound truth is essential for living a life of love and devotion to God.

In response to God’s love, we are called to love Him and others. This love is not something we can muster on our own; it is poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. As we reflect on the depth of God’s love for us, let it compel us to live lives that honor Him. Let us be motivated by His love to serve others, share the gospel, and live in a way that reflects His character.

Reflective Questions:

  • How does understanding God’s love for you change the way you live?
  • In what ways can you reflect God’s love to those around you?
  • Thank God for His incredible love and ask Him to help you live in a way that reflects His love to others.
