“As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.” John 17:18

You are sent. Just like the Father sent Jesus into the world, Jesus has sent you. This isn’t just for pastors or missionaries or people with theology degrees. Every follower of Jesus is sent into the world with the message of the gospel. You’re sent into your workplace, your neighborhood, your gym, your kids’ school. You’re sent to the people in your everyday life who need to know that Jesus loves them and died for them. Being sent doesn’t always mean getting on a plane to another country (though it might). It means living with intentionality right where you are, knowing that God has placed you there for a purpose.

What does it look like to live sent? It means you see every conversation as an opportunity. It means you invite people tochurch, to Easter services, to community events where they might encounter Jesus. It means when someone at the gym asks what you’re reading and you’re holding your Bible, you don’t shrink back but naturally share that you’re preparing to teach or that you’re just spending time with God. It means you pray for the people around you and look for ways to serve them and point them to Christ. The motivation for all of this isn’t guilt or obligation. It’s love. Love for God and love for your neighbor. And here’s the thing: people are waiting to be invited. They want to know about Jesus. They’re just waiting for someone to care enough to tell them.

So this week, who is God sending you to? Maybe it’s a coworker who’s going through a hard time. Maybe it’s a neighbor you’ve waved to but never really talked with. Maybe it’s inviting someone to Easter who you know doesn’t have a church home. You don’t have to have all the answers or be a perfect Christian. You just have to be willing to be sent, to go where God has placed you with the good news that Jesus saves. That’s what it means to live out this prayer Jesus prayed. You’re sanctified in truth so you can be sent into the world.

Reflect:

  • Who has God placed in your life right now that needs to hear about Jesus?
  • What’s one specific way you can live “sent” this week in your everyday environment?
  • Ask God to open your eyes to see the people He’s sending you to. Pray for courage to invite someone to church or to share your faith naturally in conversation. Thank Him that He’s chosen to use you as part of His global mission.
