“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female, he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
You are not an accident. You are not just a collection of cells or a highly evolved animal. You were made in the image of the living God, designed to reflect His character and represent Him on this earth. This truth is the foundation of everything else in your life. When the world tries to tell you that your value comes from your productivity, your appearance, or your achievements, remember this: your worth is rooted in being God’s image bearer. No tool, no technology, no artificial intelligence can ever replace what God has placed inside you. You have a soul, a capacity for relationship with your Creator, and a unique calling to steward His creation.
As we navigate a world increasingly filled with artificial intelligence, we must anchor ourselves deeply in what it means to be genuinely human. AI can generate images, write songs, and even mimic conversation, but it can never bear God’s image. It can never worship, never truly love, never experience the presence of the Holy Spirit. When you’re tempted to outsource your thinking, your relationships, or your spiritual growth to a machine, remember that you were designed for something far greater. God put His breath in you, not in a computer. He invites you into real relationship, not algorithmic responses. Hold onto your humanity. Cherish what makes you different from the machines. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Reflect:
- In what areas of your life are you tempted to find your value in productivity or performance rather than in being made in God’s image?
- How does knowing you’re created in God’s image change the way you approach technology and AI?
- Thank God for creating you in His image and ask Him to help you see yourself and others through this lens today.
