“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

You exist for a reason. Not just to build a career, raise a family, or accumulate experiences, but to reflect the image of God himself. This is your primary purpose, the reason you wake up each morning. Everything else in your life serves this central calling. When people interact with you, they should catch glimpses of God’s character: his love, his patience, his kindness, his forgiveness. This isn’t about being perfect or pretending you have it all together. It’s about allowing God to shape you more and more into the likeness of Jesus.

Think about how this changes your perspective on daily life. That conversation with a difficult coworker? An opportunity to reflect God’s patience. That moment when someone wrongs you? A chance to show God’s forgiveness. The mundane tasks of your day become sacred when you realize they’re all part of becoming more like Jesus. You’re not just going through the motions. You’re being transformed into the image of the One who created you, and that transformation is meant to continue until the day he takes you home.

Reflect:

  • In what specific areas of your life do you need to remember that your primary purpose is to reflect God’s image rather than achieve worldly success?
  • Who in your life might catch a glimpse of God through your words and actions today?
  • Ask God to help you see every interaction and task today as an opportunity to reflect his image. Pray for awareness of moments when you can show his character to others.
