“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
A common reason we stay reluctant is the belief that we need a different personality to be effective. The sermon challenged that assumption with Paul’s words: God’s grace is sufficient, and His power is perfected in weakness. Weakness is not a disqualifier; it’s often the very place where dependence becomes real and God’s strength becomes visible.
If you feel awkward, introverted, uncertain, or “not good at this,” you’re in good company. God regularly works through people who know they can’t do the assignment on their own. The goal isn’t to become impressive; the goal is to be available. When you admit your limits, without hiding behind them, you create space for the Holy Spirit to supply what you lack.
Today’s step is not to fix yourself, but to surrender yourself. Boast in weakness before God: “I’m not any good at this, and I need You.” Then look for one small moment to speak—one question, one invitation, one testimony. God can do more with a humble, halting obedience than with a confident refusal.
- What personal limitation do you tend to use as a reason to stay silent about Jesus?
- How does it change your mindset to hear that God’s power is “perfected in weakness”?
- Identify one low-risk step you can take (ask a spiritual question, offer prayer, share a short story). When will you do it?
