In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him. (Proverbs 21:1)

Nehemiah asked for letters of safe passage and resources, and God moved the king’s heart to grant what was needed—and even more than Nehemiah requested. Proverbs 21:1 reminds us that God is not limited by human authority or human systems; He can direct leaders, decision-makers, and gatekeepers in ways that accomplish His will. The sermon emphasized that God often provides credibility, relationships, and resources as we walk through His opened doors.

This doesn’t mean every request will be answered exactly as we want, or that ease always equals God’s will. Sometimes the door opens with surprising provision; other times it opens with resistance or delay. But in all cases, we can trust that God is able to work upstream—preparing people and circumstances we haven’t even met yet.

Today, hold your needs and plans before God with open hands. Ask Him not only for what you see you need, but also for what you can’t yet anticipate. Then commit to give Him the credit, refusing to grasp for control or applause.

• Where do you feel blocked by a person, policy, or system that seems bigger than you?
• How can you ask boldly and respectfully, like Nehemiah, without entitlement or manipulation?
• If God provides unexpectedly, how will you make sure He receives the glory rather than you?
