“Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'” (Matthew 25:37-40)

Jesus teaches that every act of service to others is, in fact, service to Him. When we feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, or care for those in need, we are ministering to Jesus Himself. This truth transforms how we view the people around us—every person is an opportunity to love and serve Christ. Jesus identifies Himself with “the least of these,” challenging us to look for Him in the faces of those the world might overlook.

As Serve Week comes to a close, remember that every small act of kindness matters eternally. Nothing done in love for Jesus is ever wasted. Ask God to help you see others through His eyes and to recognize the sacredness in every opportunity to serve. Serving like Jesus turns ordinary moments into holy encounters. Carry this mindset with you, not just this week, but every day, knowing that as you serve others, you are worshiping your King.

  • How does seeing Jesus in “the least of these” change the way you approach serving?
  • Are there people you tend to overlook or ignore who might be Jesus’ invitation to serve?
  • Ask Jesus to help you see Him in everyone you meet. Pray for a spirit of compassion and readiness to serve, trusting that every act of love is an act of worship to God.
