Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.
What are the tasks you do every day? We all have daily habits whether brushing our teeth or following a routine at work. These tasks can be insignificant or important. They can be exciting or bring us dread. Today’s verse reminds us that God cares about all these things. Whether we are folding the laundry, writing a novel, or running an organization, we can do so in a way that glorifies God.
Jesus—God who humbled Himself to become man, who washed the feet of people, who endured torture even though He is without sin—is not looking for your grand display of importance or even that you put your “mark” on the world. He has called you to simply live faithfully with Him. He has called you wherever you are, whatever your job title or position, to live for His glory.
This means we operate differently than our flesh leads. We take the role of a servant, a life of humility, not searching for personal credit but of putting others first. This perspective changes the way work, live with our family, and do every routine thing in between. This can be hard and even painful but our Lord equips us for this life through His Spirit and promises us that it will be more than worth it in the end. Whatever you do, do it for God’s glory.
