“Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; for You will judge the peoples with uprightness and guide the nations on the earth.” (Psalm 67:4)

God’s heart has always been for all peoples, all neighborhoods, and every city to know and rejoice in him. The joy described here is not reserved for a select few, but is meant to overflow to the nations as God’s goodness and justice are made known. As followers of Jesus, we are invited to participate in this great purpose, bringing the teachings and love of Christ wherever we go. Our calling is not only personal, but global, as we share the hope and joy that come from knowing God.

This vision reframes our sense of mission and responsibility. Whether we are at home, at work, or in our city, we are sent people tasked with carrying the message of Jesus to those near and far. The urgency of God’s invitation inspires us to move beyond comfort or fear, trusting that he desires all to know his joy. As you go about your day, consider how you can be part of God’s plan to guide and bless others. Let your life be a reflection of his compassion and justice, inviting others to join in the song of gladness.

  • How does God’s heart for the nations shape your understanding of your own purpose?
  • Who in your city or neighborhood might need to experience the joy of knowing God?
  • Ask God to use you as a vessel of his joy and justice, and to give you a heart for those who have not yet heard or experienced his love.
