“How will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things.'” (Romans 10:14-15)
There’s a chain of necessity in these verses that should stop us in our tracks. People can’t call on Jesus if they don’t believe. They can’t believe if they haven’t heard. They can’t hear without someone telling them. And no one can tell them unless they’re sent. This isn’t a guilt trip, it’s a reality check. There are still 7,000 unreached people groups who don’t have enough believers or resources to hear the gospel. They’re not going to figure it out by osmosis. Someone has to go. Someone has to be sent.
Here’s the beautiful part: God calls the feet of those who go “beautiful.” Not because they’re particularly talented or eloquent or brave, but because they bring good news. Your feet can be beautiful too, whether they walk across the street to a neighbor, across the country on a business trip where you intentionally engage people about Jesus, or across the ocean on a mission trip. The question isn’t whether you’re qualified; it’s whether you’re willing to be sent. God’s plan for the nations isn’t just for professional missionaries. It’s for every Christian who says, “Here I am, send me.” Where is God sending you?
Reflect:
- Who in your life—locally or globally—hasn’t heard the good news because no one has been sent to them yet?
- What’s one specific step you can take this week to have “beautiful feet” that bring good news to someone who needs to hear it?
- Ask God to make your feet beautiful by sending you to someone who needs to hear about Jesus. Pray for boldness to go wherever He sends you—whether that’s across the street or across the world—and for the courage to use your words to share the good news, not just live it silently.
