Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and forever.
Have you ever tried making plans with many of the details still up in the air? It is difficult to know where to go or what to do when multiple variables are involved. When you think about making plans in life, there are few things that do not change. If we are honest with ourselves, many factors we believe are set in stone are all subject to change. This truth is reflected in James 4:13-14 which says, “Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.’ Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a vapor that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.”
With so many factors subject to change in life, there is only one thing that stays the same through it all—Jesus. Any time we make plans, we always start with what we know. Even when there are details up in the air, we always go back to what we know to figure the rest out. When we make plans short-term or long-term, we need start with the one person that we know is true and unchanging. With Christ as our guide, we can navigate life, even when the details or future are unclear. He who has been faithful to you before is with you today and will be the same tomorrow and forevermore. His truth endures, His promises are true, and He is the firm foundation life can be built upon.
