And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, and various kinds of tongues.

Have you attempted a task that required multiple people, but you tried to do it on your own? Trying to do things our own often seems easier. We don’t want to go through the trouble of asking someone for help or may be afraid of looking weak. But when push comes to shove, we must ask for help with some things. God has intentionally created us to give and receive help from others. He even lets us help Him in some sense: He has given us the opportunity to work with Him and be used by Him to help others and build up the church.

When trying to do everything on our own, it is easy to become inward-focused, overwhelmed, and out of touch with the needs of those around us. Yet, God has given us His Spirit and the hope of heaven to come, and He has equipped us to help those around us today.

You have been made new not only for your benefit but to glorify God in all you do, equipped with His very presence so you can help others know who He is. God has designed you in a unique way to serve and glorify Him with the gifts He has appointed given you. It is time to surrender our fears to Him and allow Him to work in us and show us where we can serve the body as a whole.

  • What are some gifts God has equipped you with?
  • What are some hurdles you face when considering serving the church?
  • Pray and surrender your doubts and fears about serving to God
