There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of armies will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:7)
Have you ever heard of the expression, “All good things must come to an end”? We use this to say nothing lasts forever. Even the beautiful things we love will go away at some point. As true as this may be, we grieve loss every time. When Isaiah wrote about the hope the Messiah would bring, He did not write about a short-lived solution or even a long-standing earthly reign for the Messiah—he pointed to a permanent reign that will never end.
When we think about the hope Jesus brings, it is difficult to fathom the depth and breadth of His victory. That Jesus will continue His reign not to be domineering but to bring peace forever is precisely the message of hope we need in our world that is so turbulent and chaotic. This is the reason we press into relationship with Jesus every day. In a world full of empty promises and temporary solutions, God has given us something greater. And this hope is not far off as something that will happen one day but something takes place as we surrender to Him now just as we will in eternity.

- What are some reasons it is hard to wrap your head around there being no end to God’s reign and victory? How can holding onto that hope change how you face the challenges of life?
- Pray and surrender to Christ the challenges you are facing. Ask Him to rule and reign in your life.
