“. . . but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.”
What are you most anxious about right now? How much time have you spent worrying today? How has your anxiety interrupted your normal routines of life? There are very few times in life when we have no concerns. We regularly experience stress in life, whether it is with our family, our work, or the world around us. These things trouble us, drain us, and have us searching for answers. We try to fix the problems around us the best we know how, but even as one problem resolves, another arises.
But with Jesus, we don’t have to strive for the next best thing or search for ideal circumstances. Jesus is satisfying, no matter what situation we find ourselves in. He gives us more than a quick fix or an easy solution. He has already met our greatest need—reconciliation with God. Even when the present stressors of the world feel overwhelming, we can remember the life we have in Christ. Our greatest need has been met, and our souls can live at rest, even as we encounter challenges. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” He is ready to satisfy your soul, calm the storms of worry in your mind, and give you His everlasting life. Will you come, drink from His fountain, and trust Him to satisfy?
- How have you searched for peace and satisfaction in life outside of Jesus? What came of those pursuits?
- What does it look like to take in the living water Jesus provides? Where do you need to turn to Him now?
- Pray and surrender your anxieties to God. Ask Him to help you trust that His living water is enough for you.
