“When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.'” (Luke 10:8-9)

Jesus calls his followers to enter into the lives of others with humility and openness, accepting what is offered and meeting people where they are. “Eat what is offered to you” is an invitation to honor those who welcome us—to embrace hospitality, even when it stretches our comfort zones. The mission of Jesus is always relational. We are to serve, to heal, and to point people to the nearness of God’s kingdom in practical, loving ways. By accepting hospitality, we show respect, build trust, and break down barriers.

Jesus’ instructions also remind us that sharing the good news is not just about words, but about actions that demonstrate God’s love. Healing the sick, caring for needs, and offering hope are all ways we make God’s kingdom visible. Jesus calls us to serve in the everyday realities of life, trusting that God works through simple acts of kindness. When we serve with humility and availability, we embody the good news that God is near.

Today, look for opportunities to receive and offer hospitality, to serve someone’s needs, or to show that God’s kingdom is close. Be willing to step out of your comfort zone, trusting that God can use even the smallest acts of love to draw people to Himself.
