I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now.

When have you worked with a partner on a project? Was it easy or difficult to work together? How did you feel when the project was complete? Working together to get a task done is a unique experience. Some things are impossible to do on our own, and others are simply much more difficult to do without someone’s help. We use common phrases like “Many hands make light work” or “teamwork makes the dream work” to express the value of working together. When we wrestle with God’s call on our lives, it is easy to think of the isolated plan He has for us like the job we have or who we marry, but His plan is not just about us as individuals, He desires for us to come together and serve alongside each other as His body. Even from far away, Paul understood this. Even from a distance, He valued the partnership of the believers in Philippi to share the hope of Christ.

It may feel easier at times to “just get things done” rather than work alongside others, but we are called by Christ to partner with brothers and sisters in pursuit of Him. We are a part of the body of Christ, and we work together to live out our faith and minister effectively to others. Whether it is serving together in a certain ministry area or even supporting in prayer from afar, God has called and equipped you to partner in the gospel.

  • How do you seek to partner in the gospel right now? What are the ways you serve and build up the church around you?
  • Who have you noticed serving alone? How can you partner in the gospel with them?
  • Pray for our church and ask God to grow our partnership together.
