Some were being persuaded by the things said by Paul, but others would not believe.
One of the primary concerns many have about sharing their faith is how others might react. We want to avoid rejection, so it is easier to say nothing at all. This passage reminds us of the reality that many of us fear—some will listen and receive Christ, and some will not. Paul shared with all, trusting God with the results even when they were not favorable. What if we stopped worrying about the results and simply obeyed the call God has given us? Romans 10:14-15 says, “How then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? But how are they to preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!’”
Every part of the discipleship process is important whether discipling a new believer or building relationships with non-believers. God has graciously given us each a part to play. He who has supplied our every need will surely go before us as we live out our faith and share with others. And we can trust Him with the results.
- In what areas of your life do you care most about what people think?
- When did you share your faith with someone else recently? What happened? Explain.
- Pray and ask God to help you to be faithful to His call to disciple making regardless of the outcome.
