Praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned.
Family gatherings are a staple in our culture. We use the occasions to enjoy time as a family and to check up on one another after time spent apart. After a family gathering, we will go our separate ways, back to our own rhythms of life until the next reunion.
If you are a follower of Christ, you are in the family of God. We are brothers and sisters in Christ, and we gather weekly on Sunday mornings not only to worship and hear a sermon but to stay connected on the happenings in each other’s lives. We learn how we can partner and pray for one another throughout the week. We take up the call of following Jesus and sharing the hope He gives together. We are to look not only for how we can minister to outsiders but also for how we can support our church family.
Even from prison, Paul did not forget the family of God he was a part of or his purpose as a follower of Christ. He, alongside his brothers and sisters in Christ, looked diligently for open doors and opportunities to share his faith. Many of us have reasons it is hard to share the hope of Christ with others. Instead of letting these reasons inhibit us, we can invite our church family to partner with us, praying for opportunities through the circumstances and challenges of life.
- What are some reasons it is hard for you to share your faith right now?
- How has the family of God helped you during a tough time? Who can you ask for prayer support as you try to share your faith with others?
- Pray and be honest with God about the things that make it difficult to share your faith and ask Him for opportunities and boldness in those circumstances.
