“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Luke 10:2)
Jesus looked at the crowds and saw something we often miss: the harvest is ready. Right now, all over the world, there are people whose hearts are prepared to hear about Jesus. There are movements of God happening in places we’ve never heard of. The problem isn’t that people aren’t ready. The problem is that there aren’t enough laborers. And Jesus tells us exactly what to do about it: pray. Not as a last resort or a passive activity, but as the most powerful thing we can do.
This is where the 10:02 challenge comes in. Set an alarm on your phone for 10:02 (AM, PM, or both) as a daily reminder to pray Luke 10:2. When that alarm goes off, pause for 30 seconds and ask God to raise up laborers for the harvest. Pray for missionaries, for church planters, for Bible translators, for tentmakers using their careers as platforms for the gospel. And as you pray, stay open to the possibility that God might be raising you up as one of those laborers. Prayer isn’t just about getting others to go—it’s about making ourselves available to be sent.
Reflect:
- When you think about “laborers in the harvest,” do you see yourself as one of them, or do you assume that’s for someone else?
- What would change in your daily life if you truly believed the harvest is plentiful and ready right now?
- Set your 10:02 alarm right now, and commit to praying Luke 10:2 every day between now and Easter. Ask God to send laborers—and to show you if He’s calling you to be one of them.
