“Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.” – John 17:5

Jesus was looking forward to going home. He anticipated the moment when He would return to the pre-incarnate glory He had with the Father before the world began. Even in the shadow of the cross, He could see beyond the suffering to the glory that awaited. This is our hope too. We’re not just enduring this broken world, gritting our teeth until we die. We’re anticipating a day when there will be no more sadness, no more brokenness, no more sin to battle. We’ll be in the perfect presence and glory of God Himself.

This eternal perspective changes how we live today and how we engage in God’s mission. You’re investing in something that will last forever when you pray for Albania, when you support workers in dangerous places, and when you sacrifice comfort to share the Gospel. The greatest thing that will happenin all eternity isn’t our family reunion or perfected hobbies, it’s being in the perfect, pure presence of God Himself. And here’s the beautiful truth: every person who comes to know Jesus through your prayers, your giving, your going, or your witness will be there too. The Iranian believer meeting in an underground church, the person in Jamaica who hears about Jesus while their home is being rebuilt, the neighbor who finally understands the Gospel because you had the courage to share. They’ll all be part of that eternal glory. Your faithfulness today has eternal consequences. So don’t grow weary. Keep praying. Keep going. Keep giving. Keep witnessing. The glory that awaits is worth it all.

Reflect:

  • How does remembering eternity with God change your perspective on current sacrifices for the Gospel?
  • What would you be willing to do differently today if you truly believed that eternal glory awaits?
  • Thank God for the promise of eternal glory in His presence, and ask Him to give you an eternal perspective that motivates your daily obedience and mission engagement.
