“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, I also send you.” – John 20:21
The question isn’t “Should I go?” If you love the Lord and He’s truly your Savior, the command to go isn’t optional. It’s central to following Jesus. The real question is “Where?” Where is God calling you to go? For some, it might be across the ocean to a different country. For others, it might be across the street to a neighbor who doesn’t know Jesus. It could be across cultural boundaries in your own city or across the awkward gap of starting a spiritual conversation with a coworker. The “where” looks different for everyone, but the call to go is universal for all believers.
Here’s what you need to hear: God has ordained specific moments and divine appointments for you. You are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works that He prepared beforehand for you to walk in. That means there are people you can reach uniquely, conversations you are equipped to have, and places you are positioned to go. Don’t wait until you feel perfectly qualified or completely comfortable. Abraham didn’t know his destination. Moses felt inadequate. Philip left success for a desert road. But they all went, and God used them powerfully. The same God who sent them is sending you. So take a moment today and ask Him: “Where do you want me to go?” Then listen, and when He shows you (whether it’s a global mission trip, a local service opportunity, or simply a conversation with someone in your everyday life), take the first step. Your obedience matters more than you know.
Reflect:
- If you truly believed that God has prepared specific good works for you to walk in, how would that change the way you approach each day?
- What is one concrete step you can take this week to answer the question “Where will I go?” (This could be signing up for a mission trip, reaching out to your church’s missions team, or simply being intentional about spiritual conversations in your daily life.)
- Ask God to give you clarity about where He’s calling you to go, and pray for the courage and faith to move forward in obedience when He reveals the next step. Commit to being willing to go wherever He leads, trusting that He will be with you every step of the way.
