“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people.” Colossians 3:23

What are some things in life you put a lot of intentionality and thought into? What are some things you do without really thinking about it? Some things we do require more focus because we want to complete them with excellence while others seem less important. In Christ, all of life is meant to reflect God, not just the parts that are easy or in the areas that are seen by others.

He sees each action and our intention behind it. Whatever task we face, we were made to reflect Him. Being intentional to live each day for the Lord and not just for ourselves or for others’ approval does not come naturally. Serving God with the small details of our lives means trusting Him with everything. Amid daily life, it can be easy to wonder, “What’s the point?” God knows that we have a desire for purpose each day. In Him our greatest needs are met, and our greatest purpose is fulfilled, no matter how we feel in the moment. Whether in big acts or small things done for Him, we were made for His glory.

  • What are some of the small tasks you overlook God’s concern for?
  • How can you remember to serve God in the small things of life? How does it feel to know God cares about all that you do, not just the things others notice?
  • Pray and confess to God some of the small tasks you fail to submit to Him and ask Him to help you do so today.
