When Jesus had crossed over again in the boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him; and He stayed by the seashore. And one of the synagogue officials, named Jairus, came, and upon seeing Him, fell at His feet and pleaded with Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death; please come and lay Your hands on her, so that she will get well and live.” And He went off with him; and a large crowd was following Him and pressing in on Him.
It is hard to have a conversation with someone in a crowded room. But if they need help, it feels almost impossible to offer anything of use while so many things are going on around you. Where we have the tendency to only see the crowd, Jesus was surrounded by the crowd but still saw the individual among the masses pressing in on Him.
Sometimes thinking about all the people around the world in need can feel overwhelming. Even when you feel small in the masses, or like your struggle is isolating and lonely, our God sees you, the individual as well as all His people. He sees you in your heartache, trauma, and burdens; He sees you in your joys, healing, and successes. He is the God over all, but He is also near to you personally. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need.”
Even in the chaos of a crowd Jesus saw and heard Jairus. The same is true for you today. Even with all the chaos of the world and prayers of countless people, God can carry all your burdens. He wants you to run to Him with your problems. He wants you to walk with Him when you don’t know what to do. He is ready and able to hear your cry when you come to Him and give you your daily bread to get through. You are not alone today or in any moment. Your God sees you. He is sovereign over all and sovereign in your life.
- What problems feel too big or too small for God right now?
- How does it feel to know God hears you and listens when you cry out to Him?
- Pray and bring your burdens before God and receive His mercy and grace in your struggles.
