A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and had endured much at the hands of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but instead had become worse—after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak. For she had been saying to herself, “If I just touch His garments, I will get well.” And immediately the flow of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.

We can look many places for solutions to our problems, and as quickly as problems arise, we begin to search for a remedy. We may to a quick search on the internet, ask for advice from people we trust, read a book, or listen to a podcast on the subject. The woman in this passage had endured a problem for a long time; it plagued her body and isolated her from others. Even after all this time, she had not given up on finding a solution. Even against the odds of being seen in the crowd of people, she sought Jesus, knowing even nearness to Him could heal her.

With all the problems we face—big or small, short-term or life-long—we can come to Jesus. He is the Great Physician, the Great Redeemer, and the One who makes messy things beautiful. What made this woman distinct from the masses was her faith in Jesus. Jesus possessed the same authority, healing power, and redemptive ability when He walked through the streets as when He spoke or performed a miracle. This woman sought Him, knowing He was the answer to her problem, with faith that He would bring about complete healing.

Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him.” Jesus has been and will always be the true answer our souls long for. We are made in His image, so any problem we face is safe in the hands of the One who designed us and knows us. He is ready and able to help those who seek Him. He proves Himself again and again as we seek Him in the storms, valleys, and mountain tops. We need to seek His wisdom when we face problems because, ultimately, He is the answer our souls search for.
