“Remembering before our God and Father your work of faith, labor of love, and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 1:3)
Faith is not meant to be a theory you hold in your mind. It’s meant to be a movement you live out in the world. When Aragorn chose to ride against the gates of Mordor, he didn’t know if Frodo was still alive. He didn’t know if the mission would succeed. But his belief in the ultimate victory of light over darkness was so strong that he was willing to risk everything. That’s what faith looks like when it works. It changes your behavior based on what you believe about the unseen God.
What would it look like for your faith to work this week? Maybe it means having that difficult conversation you’ve been avoiding because you trust God with the outcome. Maybe it means giving generously even when your bank account feels tight because you believe God will provide. Maybe it means serving in an area where no one will notice or applaud you because you’re confident that God sees. Faith that works doesn’t wait for certainty. It steps forward into uncertainty because it trusts the One who holds the future.
Reflect:
- What is one area where you’re waiting for certainty before you act in faith?
- How might your daily decisions change if you truly believed that God is trustworthy with your whole life?
- Confess to God the areas where fear has kept you from acting in faith, and ask Him for courage to take one step forward this week.
