You will make known to me the way of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

In our tech savvy world, we can find how-to videos or step-by-step guides for just about anything. We no longer have to be experts or trained on how to do something—we just have to have to search it out. But this doesn’t mean we have the solution for every problem. The car repair is not always as easy as it seems in a video, and an educated guess at a diagnosis does not mean we will be healed. We are in the information age, with so much access to knowledge and learning, but some things can’t be experienced through a “how to guide.”

No matter how much information we receive, God is still the only path to true life. He gives us more than just information about life through His Word, He gives us new life through Jesus and guides us in a life of joy by His Spirit. In the Christmas season, we see so many advertisements promising happiness, but no matter how extravagant the promise, nothing fully satisfies apart from Christ. When we come to Him, we are changed, filled, and made new. We are reconciled to the Father and restored to a new way of life by the Holy Spirit. In a world full of empty promises, He always keeps His Word. He will be faithful to guide you, give you access the fulness of joy in His presence, and reveal the pleasures at His right hand.

  • What are some things you regularly look to God to provide? What are some things you don’t rely on God as much for?
  • How would your life change if you really trusted God to show you the way of life and the fullness of joy?
  • Pray and ask God to grow your trust in Him.
