To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of things regarding the kingdom of God.
Most of us desire quick fixes. The thing about a quick fix is it usually not a lasting fix. It will only work for so long before we find ourselves with the same problem again. Jesus took time after His resurrection to spend time with His disciples and prepare them for the next season of ministry without Him physically present. The resurrected Jesus didn’t simply show them the problem was solved with the resurrection, He walked with them through the transformation that needed to happen in their hearts to understand the kingdom of God in light of the resurrection.
We don’t just desire quick fixes for the routine problems of life. We also want them in our life with Jesus and other believers. We want answers and life change as soon as we recognize sin. We are ready to experience resolve. The thing is, if following Jesus is only about getting answers and solving problems, the resurrection would have been the end. Instead, He stayed with the disciples because the work He was doing in them was more than just freeing them from sin but also showing them how to walk in the new life. Jesus is Immanuel, God with us. When you are focused on solving problems, He wants to walk with you to bring about transformation. If God is not in a rush or in the business of quick fixes, we don’t have to be either.
- Why do we often prefer quick fixes instead of going through the process even if it will result in a better outcome?
- How does it encourage you that God desires to walk with you to bring about transformation in you?
- Pray and thank God for His ongoing presence that brings about transformation.
